The simple golf cap has come a long way since tweed ruled the roost and mentioning the phrase ‘baseball cap’ would have you called up before the golf club committee.

The multitude of perforations have been “strategically placed to optimise breathability in high-sweat areas”. Sounds eminently sensible. The Nike logo and rim band are also luminous.

Another golf cap that is a bit of throwback. With its relatively narrow styling, which exposes a lot of the neck, it evokes memories of Hagen and Bobby Jones. It is also incredibly lightweight.

A fantastic piece of golfing headwear that is also relatively cost-effective. Also comes in a range of four sizes so you can actually find the perfect fit.

TaylorMade have a lot to say at the moment and they couldn’t pass up the opportunity to shout about their new Stealth range of woods. That apart, the darkened under bill, which is designed to reduce glare, represents a very astute bit of design while the moisture-wicking headband is certainly welcome too.

Another excellent option for less than £20 and one that is made from 13% spandex, so flexibility and comfort are never going to be an issue. Ping has also utilised the moisture-wicking fabric made by industry specialists Delta so if you don’t mind the in-your-face-branding, a really good all-round option.

Farah is new to golf for 2022 and the iconic clothing brand has gone big on golf caps with this really nice offering. The Reno is 100% cotton, so you benefit from all its natural cooling properties, plus you also get a rather natty ball marker, held in place with a magnet.

Certainly no problem with ventilation on this Oakley cap. The mesh panels at the back will certainly alleviate any overheating issues although, aesthetically, it is clearly not going to be everyone’s cup of tea. It might be a bit brand-heavy for some but if you’re not bothered about giving Wilson free advertising, the cap fits great. It is stretchy enough and the company’s own SnapX Technology has no peers in terms of giving you a custom-fit standard piece of headgear.
